Darren Tobin

Darren M. Tobin, Trial Attorney

Darren has been recognized as one of the top lawyers in Georgia and named a “Super Lawyers Rising Star” by Super Lawyers Magazine and Atlanta Magazine since 2015. Only 2.5% of all lawyers in Georgia are selected as a “Rising Star.” Darren has also been recognized as one of Georgia’s “Legal Elite” by Georgia Trend Magazine, and in 2016 Georgia Trend Magazine recognized Darren as one of the state’s most popular personal injury attorneys. Most recently in 2018 he was selected by the Daily Report as one of Georgia’s “On The Rise”, one of 20 lawyers in the state to receive the honor.  He is consistently listed as one of the “Top 40 Under 40” by The National Trial Lawyers; as a “Top 100 Trial Lawyer” by The National Trial Lawyers; and as an “Elite Trial Lawyer” by The National Law Journal.

Darren’s clients reach out to him from a variety of sources.  Some clients are referred by family and friends; others are referred by other lawyers who do not practice personal injury law; and many are referred by personal injury lawyers who need help litigating their case to a jury.  But no matter the source, every client is treated the same.  As a father and husband, Darren’s practice philosophy is to treat every one of his clients with the dignity, respect, and compassion that he wishes for his own family.

Darren graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia with a double major, and then the University of Georgia School of Law where he served on the Moot Court and Honor Court Executive Boards.  The first in his family to attend university in the United States, Darren excelled in both college and law school all the while working as a tutor for the University’s football players.

After graduating from law school, Darren accepted an offer with one of the most prominent domestic relations firms in the southeast. He chose to begin his career in family law so that he could hone his trial skills in the open courtroom while simultaneously fine-tune his counseling skills in the privacy of his office. Once Darren felt that he had considerable litigation experience, he accepted an offer with one of the country’s most well-known plaintiffs’ firm specializing in mass tort litigation. Respected by some of the world’s largest pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, Darren’s firm litigated cases across the country.  Years later, Darren and Jeb teamed up to form Butler Tobin–a preeminent plaintiff’s trial firm dedicated to helping victims pursue justice.

Darren was raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, London, England and Atlanta, Georgia. When Darren is not working, he enjoys running, playing and coaching sports, volunteering in the Jewish community, and most importantly, laughing with his wife and two sons.
